Cascadia – Mt. Rainier
COUNTRY:
Cascadia
DESIGN:
When I was a kid, my family went camping to Ohanapecosh in Mt. Rainier National Park. The rangers there led an afternoon hike each day and my favorite one was the Naches Loop. At one point on this hike you could see Shriner Peak with its fire lookout on top. The ranger stopped and pointed it out to the crowd and said, “Now if you are in really terrific shape you could hike up to that lookout.”. I guess that statement impressed me because I have hiked it seven times now—every 5 years, at ages 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 & 65 years of age. This is the view that you get of Mt Rainier from the top. It is particularly impressive at sunrise on a clear morning.
