Dharma Bums – Adley

Dharma Bums

When I was working up on Desolation Peak, my son Adley hiked up to help for a few days.  The best of times.   You can see the twin spires of Hozomeen Peak in the background of the painting and a hint of the Milky Way which arcs from Hozomeen in the north across the wide night sky to Sourdough Mountain in the south ( where a firelookout we also worked stands watch ).  And you can see him reading in bed with a headlamp.

In the frame on the left is a photo I took from outside the lookout on my way to brushing my teeth.  It inspired the painting  on the right.  This piece now hangs in Adley’s home in Chicago.
