Gumbo – Graneries
COUNTRY:
Gumbo
DESIGN:
In my younger years on the farm, the grain was stored in small square farm built wooden buildings sometimes with internal wires to keep the walls from blowing outward under the weight. These days metal silos are more common and often come to a “point” at the bottom to make it easy to get all the grain out. The opening at the top allows the auger to fill the bin. YQU is the symbol for the Grande Prairie airport in Alberta about 20 miles from the family farm. Note the farm mailbox stamp : ))
