Skookum – Storm Tent


I kayaked once in the winter to a small island off the coast and camped right on the beach near the high tide line.  Prior to setting up the tent, I pulled the boat far up the slope into the bushes since the weather forecast predicted a storm.  I also secured the tent stakes with additional rock weights, made sure the fly was tight, and scraped some drainage channels around the perimeter of the tent.   Then I crawled in nice and cozy and waited.  It didn’t take long and soon I watched the storm rage out the open end… seemed then like the whole planet was water, water, water everywhere……
