On the way into Ross Lake I stopped at the NOCA Fire Office in Marblemount and one of the helicopter pilots showed me a picture he had taken from over the south end of the lake up toward the Desolation Fire(s). You can see the plume in the picture….
Here is what it looked like down on the lake before the clearing…..
The smoke was very thick all week until Thursday night when the wind cleared it out. This is what it looked like down at the Resort. Friday the 21st was rainy but good visibility had returned. Now the rains have come daily and there is snow in the mountains. Fire season up here should be over for the year and the smoke gone with it……finally………
